Job summary

Amazon Leo is seeking an experienced System Development Engineer to join the satellite power systems team. You will develop automation tools to monitor power system health across a constellation of over 3000 satellites and translate operational runbooks into automated responses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree.
• Proficient in at least one modern language: Python/Ruby/Golang/Java/C++/C#/Rust.
• 3+ years of non-internship professional system development experience.
• Experience developing the operational requirements and dependencies of complex hardware systems.
• Experience with data analysis tools and software.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary operational liaison between Power System Engineering and Leo flight operations stakeholders.
• Monitor and assess power system health across the constellation.
• Develop metrics to track health and service uptime of each satellite & constellation.
• Investigate and troubleshoot in-flight anomalies, and execute operational responses.
• Escalate to responsible engineers for scenarios where existing automation or runbooks do not apply.
• Document operational instructions and procedures for the benefit of other Power operators.
• Support on-call activities for the areas your team support.
• Develop and enhance operational procedures, both manual and automated.
• Create and review scripted operations procedures (i.e. software development).
• Improve telemetry monitoring and flight data analysis capabilities.
• Support continuous automation improvements for operational sequences.
• Formulate responses to new operational scenarios for review and approval from the Power System Engineering team
