Job summary

Paxus - Technology + Digital Talent is seeking an experienced SAP S/4HANA Functional Expert in Brisbane for a major enterprise transformation. You will design, configure and support S/4HANA MM and Operational Procurement & Inventory Management, working across requirements, design, build, testing, cutover and hypercare.

You will collaborate with solution architects and business stakeholders to ensure alignment with the broader SAP solution and governance.

SAP S/4HANA Functional Expert

Brisbane | Contract Opportunity | Major Enterprise Transformation

Are you an experienced SAP S/4HANA Functional Consultant with deep expertise in Materials Management, procurement and inventory management?

We are seeking a hands-on SAP S/4HANA Functional Expert to join a major transformation program focused on delivering a modern, scalable enterprise solution supporting complex procurement, inventory and warehouse operations.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in shaping and delivering an end-to-end SAP solution, working closely with business stakeholders, solution architects and technical teams.

The Role

As the SAP Functional Expert, you will be responsible for designing, configuring and supporting S/4HANA Operational Procurement and Inventory Management capabilities.

You will work across the full project lifecycle, from requirements and solution design through to build, testing, cutover, go-live and post-implementation support.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Designing and implementing SAP S/4HANA Materials Management (MM) configuration and functional solutions.


• Developing fit-for-purpose solutions across procurement, inventory replenishment, inventory control and reverse logistics.


• Designing and maintaining key master data structures, including materials, business partners, purchasing information and related procurement data.


• Translating complex business requirements into scalable SAP designs and functional specifications.


• Working closely with Solution Architects to ensure alignment with the broader solution architecture, governance and compliance requirements.


• Supporting integration across EWM, SD, FI/CO, BTP and external systems.


• Producing key project artefacts, including process flows, detailed designs, configuration documentation, functional specifications and test scripts.


• Supporting unit testing, SIT, UAT and other testing activities.


• Contributing to cutover planning, deployment and go-live activities.


• Providing expert support during hypercare and post-go-live stabilisation.


• Supporting knowledge transfer and capability uplift across internal teams.

About You

We are looking for a highly experienced SAP Functional Consultant with a strong background in delivering original, fit-for-purpose S/4HANA MM and Operational Procurement & Inventory Management solutions.

You will ideally bring:

• 5+ years' experience implementing SAP S/4HANA Materials Management solutions, including greenfield implementations and/or complex live production environments.


• Strong hands-on experience designing and configuring SAP MM solutions from business requirements through to implementation.


• Experience delivering bespoke SAP designs rather than purely template or rollout-based implementations.


• Strong knowledge of procurement, inventory management, replenishment and related supply chain processes.


• Demonstrated experience integrating SAP MM with EWM, SD, FI/CO, BTP and external applications.


• Experience across the full SAP delivery lifecycle, including design, build, configuration, testing, cutover, deployment and hypercare.


• Strong fit-gap analysis, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.


• The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

SAP S/4HANA MM certification would be highly regarded, along with certifications or experience across related modules such as EWM or SD. Experience within healthcare, pharmaceutical, logistics or other complex supply chain environments would also be advantageous.
