Job summary

Battery World O'Connor is seeking enthusiastic retail assistants to join a hands-on team. You will be involved in retail sales and fitting batteries for cars, boats, and other equipment, with a focus on problem solving and customer service.

Open to both full-time and part-time applicants; weekend work required; training provided on the job; two shops in scope; Fremantle/Claremont area preferred; operations run Mon-Sat and Sun hours vary.

Looking for a role with real variety? Passionate about cars, boats, motorbikes, or anything with an engine?

Join a hands-on team where no two days are the same. This isn’t a job where you’re stuck behind a counter — you’ll be actively involved in sales, problem-solving, and fitting batteries across a range of vehicles and equipment.

We are looking for full-time and part-time retail assistants. If you have a keen interest in mechanical things, such as motorbikes, cars, engines or boats this job would suit you.

We require staff who can work weekends, so the full time position is Monday to Friday or Tuesday to Saturday; the part time position involves weekend work.

Abackground in batteries, mechanics or similar industries is required and we will provide further on-the-job training. You must have had some retail experience. This job is a combination of retail sales and fitting car/boat and other mechanical batteries.

Applicants with abackground in auto electrical work OR auto mechanical experience/skills are preferred and would be viewed as having an advantage.

Applicants already with aBattery-fitting license would be ideal, but this certification can be completed on-site.

We have two shops and you will be working in one or both.

Battery World O'Connor is one of the top-performing franchises in the state and Battery World Claremont is growing rapidly hence the role requires you to be a positive, energetic retail assistant with an enthusiasm to learn on the job.

We are open Monday to Saturday 7:30 - 5:00pm, and Sunday 11:00-3:00pm.

The role:

Retail sales

Preparing batteries for sale

Testing and replacing car, boat and motorcycle batteries

Preparing for start of day

Helping with orders and stock

A typical working week is up to 40 hours per week

Required skills and experience:

Must be fit and energetic. You’ll be required to fit batteries in cars, trucks, boats and motorcycles.

Must have current drivers license

Living in the Fremantle or Claremont area or surrounding suburbs is preferred.

An understanding of basic mechanics and batteries

Basic computer skills in order to operate Point of Sale (POS) system
