Job summary

Transport for NSW is seeking a Safety, Environment and Quality Officer to coordinate and improve SEQ management systems, provide expert advice to staff, and ensure compliance with requirements. In this role, you'll:

Coordinate and continuously improve Maintenance & Delivery quality management systems, providing expert advice and support to staff while ensuring effective monitoring, assurance, performance reporting, and compliance with requirements. You will also work closely with local government stakeholders to support the delivery of Transport's contract obligations.

The Safety Environment and Quality Officer will also be responsible for:

• Ensuring quality system documents and records meeting compliance standards while driving continuous improvement in SEQ systems.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships across branches and divisions while influencing policy and procedure development.
• Coordinating management system training by developing plans and strategies that support user understanding and compliance.
• Developing and overseeing audit programs by meeting regulatory requirements, identifying risks, and maintaining certifications and accreditations.
• Collating and analysing system performance data while identifying improvement opportunities and implementing effective plans and strategies.

This is an ongoing full-time role can be located at either Newcastle or Singleton.

You may be required to work outside of normal working hours, and you may also be required to travel throughout the Upper Hunter region and work at locations away from home on occasion. Allowances relating to working away from home and accommodation apply.

We take the WH&S and the management of fatigue of our employees seriously therefore to be successful in this role it is a requirement that you must reside within 75 kms driving distance from your identified Headquarters/depot.

About You

You are qualified in Internal Audit, Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and/or Certificate IV in WHS, or you have equivalent experience.

You are experienced in maintaining and improving quality, environment and WHS systems within road construction or maintenance projects.

You understand quality systems and processes and use this knowledge to support stakeholders, contractors and delivery partners to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to the required standards.

You’re a strong communicator who builds effective relationships with contractors, agencies and stakeholders. You are confident in identifying issues, raising concerns, and managing client expectations to ensure all project and system requirements meet Transport for NSW standards.

You are collaborative, proactive and motivated, with the ability to influence outcomes and drive continuous improvement in quality systems.

You hold a current unrestricted NSW driver’s licence and are willing to travel regularly and work outside standard hours when required.
