This is a key site-based leadership role with real impact. You’ll lead the Safety, Quality, Environment and Training function across our Acacia Ridge manufacturing operations, ensuring the site not only meets statutory and company obligations but consistently demonstrates best practice performance.

You’ll oversee end-to-end SQET compliance, strengthen risk controls, and help shape a culture where people, safety and quality are at the centre of how we work. Working closely with operational leaders, you’ll support safe, reliable and efficient production while driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.

You will lead and develop a small, capable team, including the Quality Assurance Officer and the Safety, Environment & Training Officer. This role suits someone who values collaboration, has the confidence to influence across the site, and enjoys building capability in others.

If you’re passionate about creating safe, high-performing workplaces, take pride in maintaining strong standards, and want to play a leading role in lifting performance across a major manufacturing site, this is a fantastic opportunity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide visible and proactive safety leadership aligned to FELT principles.
  • Drive continuous improvement in critical risk management.
  • Monitor high-risk activities and ensure robust controls for contractors, hazardous materials, mobile equipment, and machine safety.
  • Coordinate site safety interactions, behavioural engagement, and safety culture uplift initiatives.
  • Safety: Ensure clear communication of safety expectations, procedures and legislative changes.
  • Quality: Ensure site adherence to product traceability, test certificate processes, and quality control requirements.
  • Support continuous improvement in quality performance, defect reduction and root cause analysis capability.
  • Environmental: Oversee compliance with environmental licences, permits and Queensland environmental regulations.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Proven experience in SQET/HSE roles within manufacturing, light to heavy industry or other high‑risk operational environments.
  • Qualifications or formal training in safety, environmental management, quality systems, engineering or related industrial fields.
  • Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, critical risk management and incident investigation methodologies (ICAM or equivalent).
  • Experience in site-based Quality Management System execution, including traceability, documentation accuracy and audit preparation.
  • Practical understanding of environmental regulatory compliance and associated monitoring and reporting requirements.
  • Experience coordinating training and competency governance (licences, VOCs, mandatory training).
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop technical team members.
  • Strong communication, influence and stakeholder engagement skills across operational and leadership levels.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret risk, identify gaps and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Experience in steel manufacturing, metals processing or similar industrial environments.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and ACRS audit requirements (site execution level).
  • Exposure to National Self-Insurance (NSI) systems and audits.
  • Experience with continuous improvement, lean methodologies or Six Sigma.
  • Experience in communicating or dealing with Safety and Environmental Authorities.
Benefits
  • Access to long-service leave after 5 years: Employees who are not covered by an Enterprise Agreement can access accrued Long Service Leave (LSL) at the rate of 1.3 weeks per year of service after 5 years continuous service.
  • Generous parental leave: 20 weeks paid Primary Carer Leave and 3 weeks paid Partner Leave for those who have worked at the business for at least 12 months. The company also provides superannuation contributions for the Primary Carer during the period of unpaid parental leave for eligible employees (limitations apply).
  • Corporate rates for private health insurance: Nib Health Insurance offers discounted cover for employees.
  • Employee Benefits Program: discounts for employees, friends and family on a huge selection of products and services from a variety of brands including Samsung, Coles, Harvey Norman, Village Cinemas, Dick Smith, Vodafone, Thrifty and many more.
