Job summary

InfraBuild in Sydney is hiring a Quality Operator for the Rooty Hill Steel Mill on a permanent full-time basis. The role runs Monday to Thursday, 6:00am–4:00pm with overtime on Fridays, and offers a starting hourly rate of 36.98 AUD for Level 1 Operator.

The position focuses on assessing steel quality, lifting non-conforming bars, and data entry into production systems. You will receive training on measurement equipment and lifting tools, work in a safety-first environment with a strong team

Qualifications

• Experience inspecting steel quality using measuring tools.
• Ability to lift and separate non-conforming steel safely.
• Willingness to learn measurement equipment and forklift safety.
• Proficient computer use for data entry and production systems.

Responsibilities

• Assessing the quality of steel bundles using micrometers, verniers and other measuring equipment, offline from the rolling mill.
• Physically lifting and separating non-conforming steel bars from prime quality bars using safe lifting techniques.
• Training will be provided in the safe use of measurement equipment, strapping tools, lifting equipment, and forklifts.
• Comfortably using computers for data entry, email, Excel and production systems.
• Ensuring Safe Working Practices are followed and encourage team members to operate in a safe and healthy workspace.
• Working closely with other operators, communicating clearly and maintaining awareness of team movements to ensure work is performed safely.

We’re looking for a motivated and collaborative Quality Operator to join our supportive team at the Rooty Hill Steel Mill.

This is a permanent full-time role. Working hours are 6:00am to 4:00pm Monday to Thursday, with regular overtime opportunities on Fridays.

The hourly rate for the role will be $36.98, for a Level 1 Operator.

What you will be doing:
