Job summary

BMD Group is seeking a Safety Support role within its Urban Victoria division to assist the Safety Coordinator and Project Managers. The role covers safety, environment and quality across Melbourne sites with occasional travel to regional areas such as Shepparton.

You will help promote standards, conduct audits, and prepare reports, while supporting the training of BMD staff in safety and quality systems. This is a field-facing role requiring discretion, organisation and a proactive safety

Qualifications

• Cert IV in Work Health and Safety is required.
• Training & assessment qualification is desirable.
• Prior experience in the construction industry is highly regarded.
• Current knowledge of legislation, standards and industry requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support the Safety Coordinator and Project Managers in running the Safety, Environment and Quality Systems across project sites.
• Promote safety, environmental and quality standards addressing compliance and due diligence.
• Conduct safety, environmental and quality audits and inspections.
• Prepare reports for senior management.
• Assist with education and training of staff in safety, environmental and quality systems.
• Prepare work method statements, project plans and inspection and test plans.
• Develop and implement system changes and improvements.

About the role

The BMD Urban Victoria division delivers a diverse range of projects for both private and public sector clients across roads and infrastructure, urban development, water and wastewater, utilities and renewables. Our diverse expertise spans across earthworks, roadworks, concrete pavements and trunk and reticulated underground and overhead utilities.

This role will support the Safety Coordinator and Project Managers in the running of the BMD Group Safety, Environment and Quality Systems across project sites in Central, West and North-West of Melbourne. Travel up to Shepparton and doing overnight trips occasionally will be required. This will involve:

• Promoting the development and implementation of safety, environmental and quality standards that address all compliance and due diligence requirements.
• Conducting safety, environmental and quality audits and inspections.
• Preparing reports for senior management.
• Assisting with education and training of BMD staff in the areas of safety, environmental and quality systems.
• Preparing work method statements, project plans, and inspection and test plans.
• Developing and implementing system changes and improvements.

About you

• Qualification in work health and safety (minimum of Cert IV).
• Qualification in training and assessment desirable.
• Prior experience in the construction industry highly regarded
• Current knowledge of legislation, standards, and industry requirements.
