Job summary

Laing O'Rourke is leading Australia's largest defence infrastructure program in Osborne, SA, seeking a Safety Advisor to join the AUKUS team. You will oversee HSE compliance on high‑risk construction sites and drive safety improvements through data analysis and coaching.

You will monitor key HSE metrics, conduct inspections and audits, and support supervision in implementing contractual safety requirements across the project.

Qualifications

  • Holder of Certificate IV in OHS or working towards higher qualifications.
  • Experience supporting supervision with HSE issues and corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of hazard identification and site safety inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Analyse HSE data and trends to identify improvements.
  • Monitor project HSE metrics and provide reports.
  • Coach teams on HSE systems and contractual requirements.
  • Conduct HSE inspections, audits, pre-starts and toolbox talks.
  • Monitor HSE governance and drive remedial actions.

Laing O'Rourke, with joint venture partner Amentum Australia,will play a central role in supporting Australian Naval Infrastructure (ANI) to develop and deliver the Nuclear-Powered Submarine Construction Yard (NPSCY) project at Osborne, South Australia.We will provide program and construction management services of nuclear related civil infrastructure, site-wide nuclear licensee development expertise, and nuclear safety leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyse HSE data and trends to identify performance improvements.

About You
  • Certificate IV OHS and or working towards Graduate Certificate, Diploma OHS, Certificate in Risk management.
  • Demonstrated experience in assisting supervision and management with HSE issue / action closeout within the workplace
  • Has been effective in managing site-based hazards and risks and able to plan and carry out safety inspections
  • Previous experience working in high-risk construction industry
  • Understands basic environmental risk management
  • Applicants must be Australian citizens and hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance to NV1 level.
