Job summary

Public Sector People are assisting a rural Shire Council in North-West Victoria to recruit a Planning Officer on a temporary basis. The role involves assessing planning permit applications, providing planning advice, and supporting statutory planning functions.

You will work within a supportive team, interpret Victorian planning provisions, undertake site inspections, liaise with referral authorities, and manage a varied caseload with deadlines.

Qualifications

• A Town Planning or Urban Planning degree or equivalent.
• Strong written communication and report-writing skills.
• Confidence managing stakeholders and providing clear planning advice.
• Ability to independently manage a caseload and competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Assess and process a range of planning permit applications.
• Provide planning advice to applicants, residents and internal stakeholders.
• Interpret and apply Victorian Planning Provisions and Planning Scheme.
• Prepare reports, correspondence and recommendations.
• Undertake site inspections and support broader statutory planning functions.
• Liaise with referral authorities and key stakeholders during the application process.
