Job summary

Blackall State School in Central West Queensland invites applications for the role of Deputy Principal. You will lead instructional improvement, promote high-quality teaching, and drive student engagement across Prep to 12 in a rural setting.

You will work with a dedicated team, strengthen school connections with families and local organisations, and guide strategic improvement while modelling inclusive, data-informed leadership.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of effective instructional leadership and evidence-informed teaching practices.
• Capacity to lead improvement in student achievement, engagement, attendance and behaviour.
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills to build trust with staff, students, families and community.

Responsibilities

• Instructional leadership: Lead and support high-quality teaching practices across Prep-12.
• Drive attendance, engagement, behaviour and academic outcomes by removing barriers to learning.
• Foster professional growth through coaching, mentoring, planning, feedback and evidence-informed practice.
• Support curriculum planning, assessment quality, moderation and school-wide teaching expectations.
• Lead proactive approaches to student wellbeing, inclusion and relationships.
• Collaborate with staff to implement the Annual Implementation Plan using data to guide decisions.
• Strengthen relationships with families and community partners to support positive outcomes.
• Contribute to staffing, resource allocation and day-to-day operations in a large rural P-12 setting.
