Job summary

NSW Health in Balranald, NSW, invites applications for an Aboriginal Health Worker/Practitioner. The successful candidate will deliver culturally safe health services to Aboriginal clients and the community, support ED and inpatient nursing teams, and participate in local health initiatives while working within a supportive rural health district.

Qualifications

• Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent is required.
• Certificate IV Aboriginal Health Care (Practice) with current registration as an Aboriginal Health Practitioner, or willingness to complete within 2 years.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and liaise with health professionals and external agencies.
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, time management, and computer literacy including word processing and data entry.
• Active involvement in the local Aboriginal community with commitment to improving health issues.
• Ability to work unsupervised, take initiative and lead community development activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide flexible, holistic and culturally sensitive health services to Aboriginal clients and community.
• Support and assist nursing staff in the Emergency Department and MPS Inpatient Unit (Residential Aged care / Respite / Sub-Acute Care).
