Job summary

Queensland Rugby Football League Limited is seeking an experienced Area Manager to lead community rugby league across your region, based out of Helensvale on the Gold Coast. You will drive programs, support clubs and volunteers, and grow participation in line with QRL priorities.

You'll build strong relationships with clubs, schools and government bodies, manage a remote team, ensure safety and governance, and promote inclusive participation across communities.

Qualifications

• Experience in a leadership or area-based role, ideally within sport or a not-for-profit environment.
• Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with volunteers, clubs, boards and government stakeholders.
• Proven ability to deliver programs or projects within set timeframes.
• A solid understanding of governance, compliance and operating within structured frameworks.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Confidence navigating challenges and resolving complex stakeholder issues.
• Flexibility to travel and work hours that reflect the realities of community sport as this is not your normal 9AM-5PM gig.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team responsible for supporting local clubs and leagues, ensuring community rugby league is delivered safely and grows.
• Drive delivery of local and statewide participation programs with focus on growth, retention and accessibility.
• Build relationships with clubs, leagues, schools, government and other stakeholders to support development of the game.
• Support recruitment, development and retention of volunteers for clubs to operate effectively.
• Ensure competitions and operations run smoothly, identifying risks and resolving issues.
• Monitor compliance with QRL and NRL policies, legislation and governance requirements.
• Use data and insights to identify opportunities and improve performance across your area.
• Support facility planning and audits to ensure infrastructure supports future participation growth.
• Promote inclusive participation opportunities across women, Indigenous and remote communities.
• Represent QRL region and seek partnerships and funding.
