Job summary

Only About Children South Melbourne is seeking a confident Room Leader to lead a room with care and collaboration. You will partner with families and guide educators to create safe, engaging learning experiences.

The role requires a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care or higher, experience leading a room, knowledge of EYLF/NQF, and current first aid. The campus offers professional growth and supportive leadership.

Qualifications

• Diploma or higher in Early Childhood Education and Care is required.
• Experience leading a room or team.
• Understanding of EYLF, NQF, child safety and inclusive practice.
• First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications.
• Strong leadership, mentoring and communication skills.
• Ability to manage room priorities, families and quality expectations.
• Working with Children Check and relevant clearance.

Responsibilities

• Shape the day with calm routines and clear expectations.
• Lead programs that follow children's interests and stretch ideas.
• Guide planning, documentation, reflection and daily practice.
• Maintain safety with supervision, ratios and room routines.

About Our South Melbourne Campus

At South Melbourne, my day feels special because my campus has a story. I arrive at an old train station building on Ferrars Street, close to trams, buses, schools and the city. The campus feels full of character and has been trusted for a long time. I learn in nursery, toddler and kindergarten spaces, with a strong two-year school readiness program as I grow. Outside, I can climb, explore sandpits, discover the bamboo forest and notice the worm farm. This is where I can build independence, confidence and trust, while feeling part of a campus with history, community and heart.
