Job summary

Officeworks is building a new state-of-the-art Distribution Centre in Redbank, Queensland, and seeks an Automation Infrastructure Lead to own the automation tech stack. You will lead systems, liaise with Operations and Technology, and guide vendors to deliver high-performance, safe, and scalable solutions.

You will champion robotics, WMS/WES/WCS, and system integration, driving continuous improvement while mentoring teams and ensuring reliable on-site operations across the network.

Qualifications

• Experience managing automation, robotics, warehouse systems, or industrial technology in a distribution centre, logistics, manufacturing, or supply chain environment.
• Strong understanding of WMS, WCS, WES, and automation technologies.
• Knowledge of robotics, sortation systems, scanners, sensors, and warehouse infrastructure.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience managing technology vendors and service providers.
• Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to work across operations and technology teams.
• A continuous improvement mindset with Lean or CI experience highly regarded.
• A passion for innovation, automation, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

• Act as the on-site automation and robotics SME, leading system implementation, optimisation, troubleshooting, and team capability development to ensure reliable and efficient operations.
• Manage and optimise key automation and warehouse systems, including Robotics Control Systems (RCS), Warehouse Execution Systems (WES), and supporting Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), ensuring infrastructure performance, reliability, and continuous improvement.
• Support daily DC and X‑Dock operations by optimising automation performance, troubleshooting system issues, and partnering with Operations and Technology teams to drive efficient, reliable outcomes.
• Drive automation and infrastructure improvements using Lean and Continuous Improvement methodologies, developing scalable solutions and partnering with key stakeholders to enhance operational performance across the network.
• Manage automation and technology vendors against SLAs and KPIs while overseeing the maintenance, lifecycle management, and performance of critical automation hardware, equipment, and supporting infrastructure.
