Job description

Location: Brisbane CBD, QLD
Work Arrangement: Full-time in-office – 5 days per week
Work on the technology that makes massive machines think, plan and move autonomously!

Are you a talented Robotics Engineer or C++ Software Engineer who loves solving complex technical challenges?

You’ll be developing the software that enables large autonomous machines to navigate challenging terrain, plan their movements, avoid obstacles and safely execute complex tasks — all without a human at the controls.

We have an exciting opportunity to join a leading global OEM specialising in advanced mining equipment, robotics and autonomous technology, working on next-generation autonomous systems that are transforming how heavy machinery operates around the world.

This is an opportunity to work on real-world robotics challenges, where the algorithms and software you develop will directly influence how autonomous machines operate in complex, dynamic environments.

The position is based in Brisbane CBD and requires working in the office five days per week, collaborating closely with a highly skilled team of engineers developing advanced autonomous technologies.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll join a highly skilled engineering team developing intelligent planning software for autonomous machinery.

Your work will involve:

  • Robotics & Autonomous Planning: Design and develop algorithms that enable autonomous machines to navigate, plan movements and execute tasks safely and efficiently.
  • C++ Software Development: Build high-performance software libraries, APIs, frameworks and reusable components using modern C++.
  • Motion & Path Planning: Develop and optimise algorithms for navigation, motion planning, path planning and terrain planning.
  • Simulation & Testing: Develop test scenarios, validate algorithms in simulated environments and analyse real-world performance data.
  • Problem Solving: Tackle complex challenges involving optimisation, machine behaviour, operating constraints and dynamic environments.
  • Engineering Collaboration: Work closely with robotics, perception, controls, simulation and software engineering teams to deliver integrated autonomous solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Help develop scalable software architectures that support different machine types, operating environments and applications.
What We're Looking For

We're interested in engineers who enjoy tackling difficult problems and developing sophisticated software solutions.

Ideally, you'll bring:

  • Excellent C++ programming skills and strong software engineering fundamentals.
  • Strong Python programming skills.
  • Experience or a strong technical understanding of robotics, autonomous systems, motion planning, path planning or optimisation.
  • Strong debugging, profiling, troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Experience developing robust, maintainable and high-performance software.
  • An understanding of software development lifecycles, testing and validation.
  • The ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Availability to work onsite in the Brisbane CBD office five days per week.
Highly Desirable
  • A Bachelor's, Master's or PhD in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Experience developing robotics or autonomous systems.
  • Knowledge of robotics frameworks such as Robot Operating System (ROS).
  • Experience with navigation algorithms, motion planning, optimisation or control systems.
  • Exposure to simulation environments or testing autonomous software in real-world applications.
Why This Opportunity?

This isn't just another software engineering position.

You’ll be working on technology that brings together robotics, intelligent algorithms, sophisticated software engineering and real-world autonomous machinery.

It’s an opportunity to:

  • Work on advanced autonomous technology with real-world applications.
  • Solve challenging robotics problems that go well beyond traditional application development.
  • Collaborate with experienced engineers across multiple technical disciplines.
  • Develop sophisticated C++ software and planning algorithms.
  • Contribute to technology that is shaping the future of autonomous heavy equipment.
Interested?

If you’re passionate about robotics, autonomous systems or advanced C++ software development, we’d love to hear from you.

Even if your background is primarily in C++ software engineering, robotics research, motion planning or autonomous systems, we’d encourage you to apply.

Please note: This is an in-office position based in Brisbane CBD, requiring attendance five days per week.
