Job summary

Ashdown People is seeking a skilled civil engineer with proven 12D and AutoCAD experience to plan, design and quality‑check large road infrastructure projects. This role focuses on safe, sustainable road design and delivering high‑quality outputs.

Operate 7 hours per day (35 hours/week) in the office, Monday to Friday. The initial contract is for 6 months and is subject to extension based on project needs and performance.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil engineering or related field with minimum 5 years experience.
• Proficient in 12D and AutoCAD for road and drainage design.
• Experience in survey, investigation and design of roads, drainage and traffic facilities.

Responsibilities

• Survey, investigate, prepare and review design plans for road, kerb and gutter, footpath and drainage projects.
• Negotiate with public utilities authorities and other stakeholders on design activities.
• Carry out civil design for road and traffic assets.
• Liaise with contractors and consultants to ensure briefs and designs are delivered on time.

Position purpose:

We are seeking a skilled engineer with a proven track record in using design software, particularly 12D, to contribute to the planning, design, and quality assurance of complex, large-scale road infrastructure projects. This role is essential in ensuring the delivery of safe, sustainable, and effective road designs that have a positive impact on our community.

7 hrs /Day and 35 hours per week and in the office from Monday to Friday.

The initial contract is for 6 months and subject to extension.

Qualifications and experience

• 1. Degree in civil engineering or related field with minimum 5 years experience
• 2. 12D skills, AutoCAD experience in road and drainage design
• 3. Significant qualification experience in survey, investigation and design including estimates for roads, traffic facilities, stormwater drainage and other civil engineering projects
• 4. Knowledge of applicable legislation/regulations
• 5. Current class C driver's license
• 6. Demonstrated commitment to customer service and ability to work within a team environment.

Key accountabilities

• 8. Ensure that designs are completed in accordance with Council's requirements, accepted engineering standards and where applicable to the requirements of other government authorities9. Conduct technical reviews and quality assurance checks of civil designs for road and traffic assets, including the assessment for both internally developed designs and externally prepared civil design submissions.

Duties

• 10. Survey, investigate, prepare and review design plans, estimates and alternate options for a variety of civil engineering projects including road, kerb and gutter, footpath, stormwater drainage, traffic facilities and carparks
• 11. Negotiate and attend meetings with public utility authorities, government authorities, private organisations, property owners, community groups and others regarding a wide range of design activities
• 12. Carry out civil design for road and traffic assets.
• 13. Liaise with contractors, prepare and administer contracts with consultants to ensure that all briefs, works and designs are carried out on time
• 14. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all designs meet the requirements and procedures of the proposed construction methods.
