CheckHero in Melbourne is seeking RMS Inspectors to assess rental properties against Victoria’s 15 Rental Minimum Standards. Inspectors document findings and prepare reports for property managers, rental providers and renters. Expect around 8–12 inspections per day across your area.

You'll work from a strong field foundation, with on-site reporting and collaboration with licensed trades. A background in property inspections or building trades is preferred, with attention to detail and clear

• Background in property inspections, real estate, property management, building or a trade.
• Carpenter/Handyman background preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and clear, factual written reports.
• Confidence with a phone or tablet app.
• Comfort using a ladder safely.

CheckHero handles rental compliance for more than 400 real estate agencies across Victoria. Our electrical, gas, smoke alarm and minimum standards checks keep rental homes safe for the people living in them. We’re growing quickly and need more RMS Inspectors on the team.

About the role

You’ll inspect rental properties against Victoria’s 15 Rental Minimum Standards, then write the reports that property managers, rental providers and renters rely on. The work is assessing and documenting, not repairs. A typical day is around 8–12 inspections across your area.

What you’ll do

Inspect occupied and vacant rental properties against the 15 minimum standards: heating, locks, windows, mould and damp, ventilation, window covering anchors and more

Install anchors on corded blinds and curtains so the cords can’t form a loop

Replace non-compliant shower heads with 3-star WELS-rated heads

Take clear photos of every non-compliant item

Finish your report on site, the same day

Flag electrical and gas hazards to our licensed trades

Treat every renter with respect, because almost every property is someone’s home

What we’re looking for

A background in property inspections, real estate, property management, building or a trade

Carpenter/Handyman Background (preferred not essential)

Strong attention to detail and clear, factual written reports

Confidence with a phone or tablet app

Comfort using a ladder safely

What you’ll get

$70,000 – $75,000 base + super
