Mackay Base Hospital is seeking a Registered Midwife to join the Women’s Health Unit on a six-week contract from 4 November to 15 December 2026. This role offers rotating 8- and 12-hour shifts, capped at 80 hours per fortnight, in a busy regional hospital setting.

The successful candidate will provide labour, birth and postnatal care, bring clinical expertise, and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to support women through one of life's key experiences.

Competenze

• Minimum three years' experience in women's health or midwifery practice
• Essential labour ward and birth suite experience
• Current registration as a Registered Midwife with AHPRA
• Proficiency with ieMR (integrated electronic Medical Record) systems
• Strong clinical communication and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

This is a six-week fixed-term opportunity offering rotating 8- and 12-hour shifts, with a maximum of 80 hours per fortnight. The successful candidate will bring clinical expertise and a commitment to supporting women through labour, birth, and postnatal care in a busy regional hospital setting.

• Six-week contract role in a well-established Women's Health Unit at a regional Queensland hospital
• Rotating shift pattern with flexibility: 8- and 12-hour shifts, capped at 80 hours per fortnight

Preferred Requirements

• Minimum three years' experience in women's health or midwifery practice
• Essential labour ward and birth suite experience
• Current registration as a Registered Midwife with AHPRA

• Strong clinical communication and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Midwifery or equivalent qualification recognised by AHPRA
• Previous experience working within Queensland Health or Mackay Health and Hospital Service
• Familiarity with Australian clinical guidelines and standards for midwifery practice
