Job summary

CHU Underwriting Agencies is seeking a Risk Surveyor to conduct detailed risk surveys on strata buildings nationwide. You will assess building condition, construction methods, materials and compliance risks to support underwriting decisions.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge of building structures, WHS practices, and prior experience in insurance risk or underwriting surveys. This role collaborates with loss adjusters, consultants, and underwriting teams as the

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in insurance, underwriting or risk surveys.
• Ability to assess complex risks and storage of dangerous goods requirements.
• Strong report writing and analytical skills.
• Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office and industry programs.
• Excellent communication and attention to detail.
• Current Full Drivers Licence.

Responsibilities

• Conduct preliminary research, review building documentation and claims history to identify key risks.
• Perform building surveys and onsite inspections in line with CHU Assess standards and relevant legislation.
• Prepare concise risk assessment reports with findings and recommendations for underwriting.
• Collaborate with builders, engineers, managers, loss adjusters and underwriting teams to support risk mitigation.
• Provide responsive client support and stay updated on industry regulations.

CHU Assess is seeking an experienced Risk Surveyor to conduct detailed risk surveys on strata buildings nationwide. You’ll assess building condition, construction methods, materials, and compliance risks to support accurate underwriting decisions. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge of building structures, WHS practices, and prior experience in insurance risk or underwriting surveys. This role works closely with loss adjusters, building consultants, and underwriting teams across CHU, with opportunities to grow as the organisation evolves.

What your new jobs looks like

Day to day you will;

• Conduct preliminary research, review building documentation and insurance claims history, plusidentify key risks.
• Perform building surveys and onsite inspections in line with CHU Assess standards, relevant qualifications, and applicable legislation (e.g., NCC, WHS).
• Prepare concise, accurate risk assessment reports summarising findings and recommendations for underwriting.
• Collaborate with builders, engineers, managers, loss adjusters, and internal underwriting/claims teams to support risk mitigation strategies.
• Provide responsive client support, stay updated on industry regulations, and complete additional duties as directed by the CHU Assess Manager.

We'd love to meet you

Especially if you can talk to us about your:

• 5+ years of experience working in the insurance industry, ideally focused on Underwriting/ Risk Surveys.
• Ability to assess complex risks and understand requirements for storage of dangerous goods, suitable fire protection measures at an occupancy level.
• Strong report writing and analytical skills.
• Intermediate computer skills across Microsoft suite of programs and industry programs and software
• Excellent communication skills coupled with attention to detail
• Current Full Drivers Licence
