Job Description

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Risk, Quality and Compliance Manager to join our Sydney CBD team on a full-time basis, covering a 12-month period of maternity leave. This role leads the development, implementation, and ongoing review of risk management and quality systems and processes on a national basis. Reporting to the CEO, the role is responsible for ensuring compliance, driving a culture of continuous improvement, and overseeing all aspects of risk management, quality assurance, and compliance activities across the organisation, including incident management, complaints handling, and change management.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Governance & Risk Framework

  • Oversee clinical governance across the organisation, including leading the coordination and function of the Medical Advisory Committee and Risk, Safety and Quality national meetings.
  • Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive risk management and compliance framework for the fertility business, ensuring alignment with industry standards and regulatory obligations.
  • Design and implement effective reporting strategies to monitor, evaluate, and communicate performance against the risk and compliance framework across all levels of the organisation.
  • Champion a proactive risk-aware culture, embedding risk management principles into daily operations, decision-making, and organisational values.
  • Provide expert advice to executive leaders, managers and clinicians on patient safety, risk management and quality systems.
  • Develop, review and implement policies, procedures and clinical governance frameworks.
  • Manage, respond to, and resolve serious complaints in a timely and effective manner.
  • Prepare and coordinate responses to regulatory complaints and enquiries received from government bodies.
  • Manage and coordinate relationships with all relevant federal, state, and local accreditation and regulatory bodies, ensuring timely reporting, audit readiness, and ongoing compliance with healthcare and fertility industry requirements.
  • Review and approve the company's consent forms and documentation.
  • Manage the company's privacy framework, including the assessment and resolution of privacy-related complaints.
  • Support and advise departments across the business on relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
  • Translate legislative and accreditation requirements into effective policy and practice.
  • Prepare the company for external audits.
  • Enhance and maintain the operational Quality Management System (QMS), supporting accreditation standards, process consistency, and clinical and operational excellence.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying gaps, analysing incidents or near-misses, and fostering a culture of learning, accountability, and patient safety.
  • Facilitate education and coaching to build capability in quality improvement, incident management and patient safety.
  • Promote a culture of transparency, learning and continuous improvement across the organisation.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have solid experience working as the Head of Risk in a complex healthcare environment. You will bring strong leadership skills, sound risk and compliance judgment, and a strategic mindset with the ability to partner with the business and support operations.

Minimum Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Quality and Risk Manager.
  • An appropriate tertiary qualification relevant to risk and quality management in the healthcare industry.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience engaging regulators and senior executives.
  • Strong understanding of either RTAC Code of Practice or the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS) is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience developing risk management frameworks, audit planning, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the reporting and compliance requirements of key government and other regulatory bodies.
  • Proven ability to translate legislative and accreditation requirements into effective policy and practice, and to make sound decisions on complex and technical matters.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with an open and proactive approach to understanding, learning, and problem-solving.
