Job summary

Ethos BeathChapman is seeking an experienced Risk Change Assurance Specialist for a 3-month contract within a large APRA-regulated financial services organisation in Sydney. You will conduct change assurance across the portfolio, test design and operating effectiveness of controls, and produce audit-quality workpapers for senior stakeholders.

You will help prioritise assurance activity using risk-based approaches, track remediation in the GRC system, and coordinate external assurance providers

Qualifications

• Experience in change assurance reviews or related risk/audit roles.
• APRA-regulated environment experience preferred (superannuation or insurance).
• Knowledge of risk management, controls testing and control assessment.
• Understanding of project governance and delivery risks.
• Experience producing audit-quality workpapers and reports for senior stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Relevant tertiary qualification.
• Familiarity with CPS 220 / CPS 230.

Responsibilities

• Conduct change assurance reviews across the portfolio, from health checks to deep-dive reviews of governance, planning, delivery and change management.
• Assess the design and operating effectiveness of key project and portfolio controls.
• Carry out detailed testing, walkthroughs and evidence gathering to support review findings.
• Evaluate the quality and adequacy of project artefacts, including governance frameworks, project plans and change management strategies.
• Help develop review scopes and terms of reference.
• Prepare high-quality workpapers that keep findings auditable.
• Draft assurance reports setting out observations, risk implications and practical recommendations.
• Help profile and prioritise assurance activity using risk-based approaches (e.g. change risk matrices).
• Track and follow up remediation actions with owners, recording outcomes in the GRC system.
• Contribute to reporting to executive and governance forums on assurance coverage, emerging risk themes and remediation progress.
• Help coordinate external assurance providers, including information requests, deliverables and performance tracking.

Job description

Our client is a large, well-regarded APRA-regulated financial services organisation going through a major program of change and transformation. They are looking for an experienced Risk Change Assurance Specialist to join their Risk function for an initial 3 month contract. The role gives independent assurance over the delivery of the change portfolio.

Sitting within the Risk function, you will help deliver risk-based assurance reviews across the organisation’s projects, programs and wider change portfolio. You will test whether project governance, delivery controls and change management approaches are well designed and working effectively. You will then give senior stakeholders clear, evidence-based findings.

About You

• To succeed in this role you will have:
• Demonstrated experience conducting or assisting in change assurance reviews, this could come from a second-line risk, internal audit, project assurance or consulting risk advisory function.
• Experience in an APRA-regulated environment, ideally superannuation or insurance (life or general)
• Working knowledge of risk management and assurance practices, including risk profiling, control testing and control assessment
• A sound understanding of project and program governance and delivery frameworks, and of the risks that come with them
• Experience producing audit-quality workpapers and written reports for senior stakeholders
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to form clear, evidence-based conclusions from complex information
• Excellent written and verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Business, Commerce, Information Systems or similar)
• Understanding of prudential requirements (e.g. CPS 220 / CPS 230)
