Reserve Bank of Australia is seeking a Risk Advisor (Line 1) to partner with Workplace and Enterprise Risk teams. In this 12-month role you will help uplift risk culture, test controls, and support incident management and business continuity.

You will bring 5+ years in risk and compliance, design and implement frameworks, coach stakeholders and contribute to board papers. Sydney-based role with a strong APRA remit and opportunities to grow.

Qualifications

  • At least five years in Line 1/Line 2 risk and compliance roles within banking or financial services.
  • Experience designing and implementing risk and compliance frameworks.
  • Ability to coach and train business stakeholders.
  • Understanding of enterprise-wide risk frameworks and APRA standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide risk expertise to identify and assess risks to business objectives.
  • Advise on controls to mitigate material risk exposures.
  • Support incident logging and management in RMS.
  • Prepare papers for Board and Management Committee meetings.
  • Oversee Business Continuity and BIA updates and exercises.

Are you ready to join Workplace Department and play a pivotal role in transforming risk management at the Reserve Bank of Australia?We are seeking a risk professional to join us in a strategic Line 1 role, supporting the department leaders to uplift risk culture and progressively mature our risk management practices.Reporting to the Manager, Risk Assurance, this newly created role is designed to enhance our management of material risks and ensure we stay ahead in an ever-evolving risk landscape.The position will involve substantial liaison with teams within Workplace Department and in other departments in the Bank, namely Enterprise Risk and Compliance and Note Issue Department. Workplace Department is responsible for the sustainable and effective management of the Bank’s building assets and the provision of services that together ensure operational availability, security, safety and efficiency of the workplace.This is a 12-month contract term position.As a Risk Advisor (Line 1 Risk and Compliance) you will:Provide risk expertise to the business in the identification and assessment of risks to support the achievement of business objectives.Advise the business to develop adequate controls to mitigate material risk exposures.Provides subject matter expertise to the risk and control owners in the business to test the effectiveness of key controls.Support the business to develop credible action plans to return a risk within appetite and/or target residual risk.Oversee the Department’s incident reporting processes and support business leader to understand and control their risk.Provide ongoing analytical reviews of risk management practices.Provide support to the Departments in the identification, logging and management of issues and incidents within the Risk Management System (RMS) to acceptable quality standards.Overseeing updates to the Department's Business Continuity and Business Impact Analysis, and coordinating preparation of business continuity exercises, including documenting the results.Support Departmental Managers to prepare and present papers to relevant Board and Management Committee meetings.Your Background5 years + experience in a Line 1 or Line 2 operational risk and compliance role, preferably within banking or financial services.Demonstrated risk management expertise, supporting the learning and development of business stakeholders.Experience in design, build and implementation of risk and compliance frameworks, coaching and training.Understanding of enterprise-wide risk and compliance management frameworks, policies and standards.Experience in uplifting operational resilience and implementing operational risk management standards in an APRA‑regulated organisation is highly desirable.Relevant tertiary qualifications in economics, finance, risk, compliance or related discipline, or equivalent experience.Demonstrated negotiation and resolution management skills.Be MoreWorking for an organisation that truly makes a difference to the people of Australia, we can offer development and career opportunities in a collaborative environment that supports your growth, wellbeing and promotes flexibility.
