About the business/role/team

The Delivery Risk Specialist plays a critical role in safeguarding the success of a program by embedding robust risk and RAIDD management practices throughout the project lifecycle.

This role ensures that risks and issues not only documented but actively managed, enabling the program team to anticipate challenges before they escape.

By maintaining transparency and predictability, the Delivery Risk Specialist creates the foundation for informed decision-making and timely interventions that protect delivery outcomes.

Beyond process compliance, the Delivery Risk Specialist acts as a catalyst for collaboration across all delivery roles.

By engaging workstream leaders, project managers, schedulers, and coordinators, the role ensures that risk management is not siloed but integrated into daily delivery practices.

This partnership approach strengthens accountability, improves responsiveness, and fosters a culture where risks and issues are addressed collectively rather than reactively.

In doing so, the Delivery Risk Specialist becomes a key enabler of program resilience and success.

About the role

Produce and maintain a centralised RAIDD log and mitigation tracker with accurate, complete, and auditable data.

Deliver governance reporting and risk insights dashboards that provide trends, heat maps, and forward-looking analysis for SteerCo and forums.

Document outputs from risk workshops, including prioritised risks, agreed mitigation actions, and rationale for decisions.

Develop risk management playbooks and escalation protocols to standardise practices and ensure timely intervention.

Conduct periodic risk maturity assessments and post-mortem analysis to capture lessons learned and feed continuous improvement.

Champion a proactive risk culture by embedding awareness and accountability across all delivery practices.

Identify and evaluate risks early through structured triage sessions and diverse input to enable timely mitigation.

Provide predictive risk analysis using historical data and trend modelling to anticipate emerging risks.

Collaborate with stakeholders to manage dependencies and decisions, driving transparency and shared accountability.

Lead process improvements that enhance adaptability and responsiveness to changing program conditions.

About you

Deep expertise in risk management frameworks and delivery governance, with the ability to apply structured methodologies to complex technology programs and ensure compliance with organisational standards.

Proficiency in RAIDD tools and reporting systems, including maintaining accurate logs, generating actionable insights, and supporting governance forums with timely, reliable data.

Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement capabilities, able to influence diverse audiences, drive alignment, and foster a culture of shared accountability across delivery teams.

Highly analytical mindset to anticipate, assess, and quantify risks, leveraging data-driven approaches to identify emerging threats and recommend effective mitigation strategies.

Exceptional communication skills for executive-level reporting, including the ability to distill complex risk scenarios into clear, concise narratives for senior leadership and governance bodies.

Proven experience in project and program coordination or management, demonstrating the ability to manage timelines, dependencies, and deliverables in large-scale initiatives.

Hands-on experience in project risk management, including proactive identification, escalation, and resolution of risks and issues throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Demonstrated capability in managing both delivery risks and issues, ensuring timely interventions and alignment with governance expectations.

Relevant tertiary qualifications in project management or related disciplines, providing a strong academic foundation for structured delivery practices.

Industry-recognised certifications in project management (e.g., PRINCE2, PMI) or risk management (e.g., CRISC, CISA), validating expertise in best-practice frameworks and standards.
