Job summary

Mineral Resources Limited (MinRes) is seeking Rig Geologists to support lithium operations and RC drilling programmes through a six-month fixed-term contract on an 8:6 roster. You will coordinate daily geological activities at the rig, deliver accurate logging, sampling, and maintain data against the drilling plan.

You will work with the supervising geologist and drilling crews to ensure safe, efficient drilling and high-quality data.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Geology.
• At least two years’ experience in mining and exploration.
• Proficiency in acQuire, Micromine and ArcGIS.
• Strong interpersonal, written communication and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Strong attention to detail, with the ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate day-to-day geological activities at RC drill rigs.
• Verify drill hole locations, rig alignment, azimuth and dip against the approved drilling plan.
• Monitor drilling progress and downhole surveys, escalating deviations as required.
• Examine and log RC chips in accordance with site procedures.
• Oversee sample collection, quality, labelling and handling, and prepare sample submission documentation.
• Maintain accurate geological and drilling data, completing validation and QAQC checks.
• Review and sign off daily drilling records (PLODs), track metres drilled and delays, and prepare weekly geological and drilling reports.
• Collaborate with drilling crews and geologists to resolve issues and communicate significant findings.
• Participate in pre-starts, safety inspections and hazard reporting, while supporting the geological team with operational tasks.
