Talent World is seeking an experienced Retail Manager to oversee day-to-day operations at an IGA-branded grocery store in Enmore, NSW. You will manage stock, staffing, budgeting, pricing and customer service across a busy retail environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a retail management or supervisory role.
• AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in retail management, business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated stock control, ordering, budgeting and pricing experience in a retail/grocery setting.
• Staff recruitment, training, rostering and supervision experience.

Responsibilities

• Determine product mix, stock levels and service standards to meet customer demand.
• Formulate purchasing policies with suppliers and set retail prices in line with market conditions and budgets.
• Plan and run promotions, in-store advertising and local marketing to attract customers.
• Oversee sales and advise customers on products, pricing and services including bill payment and lottery.
• Maintain stock records, reconcile registers and financial transactions; prepare reports.
• Manage store operating budget, monitor income/expenses and report financial performance.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced retail professional to join a well-established supermarket business in Kulnura. Our client trades as an IGA branded supermarket and grocery store, offering everyday groceries, fresh food, packaged goods and household essentials, along with bill payment and lottery services, and is a trusted part of its local community. As the business continues to grow, it requires an experienced Retail Manager to organise and control the day-to-day operations of the store, including stock, staffing, budgeting, pricing and customer service

Key Responsibilities

• Determine the product mix, stock levels and service standards for the store, ensuring shelves and displays are appropriately stocked with groceries, fresh food, packaged goods and household essentials to meet customer demand.
• Formulate and implement purchasing and ordering policies with suppliers, wholesalers and the IGA distribution network, and set retail prices in line with market conditions and the store margin and budget requirements.
• Plan, promote and advertise the store's goods and services, including in store promotions, catalogues, specials and local marketing activities to attract and retain customers.
• Oversee the sale of goods and services to customers, and provide advice to customers on products, pricing and store services, including bill payment and lottery services.
• Maintain accurate records of stock levels, sales and financial transactions, including reconciling registers, cash handling records and preparing regular sales and stock reports.
• Prepare and manage the store operating budget, monitor income and expenditure, and report on financial performance and stock loss to the Director.
• Control the selection, recruitment, training, rostering and day to day supervision of retail staff, including checkout operators, shelf stackers and department assistants.
• Ensure the store complies with occupational health and safety regulations, food safety and handling standards, and other regulatory requirements that apply to a retail grocery business.
• Manage stock ordering, receiving, storage and inventory control, and liaise with suppliers and the IGA network to resolve delivery, quality or supply issues.
• Handle customer feedback and complaints, and maintain high and consistent standards of customer service throughout the store.
• Monitor loss prevention, security and cash handling procedures, and ensure store presentation, layout and merchandising are maintained in line with company and IGA brand standards.

Skills and Qualifications Required

• Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a retail management or supervisory role.
• An AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma in retail management, business or a closely related field, or equivalent, or at least 3 years of relevant full time work experience which may substitute for the formal qualification.
• Demonstrated experience in stock control, ordering, budgeting, pricing and financial record keeping in a retail or grocery environment.
• Demonstrated experience in staff recruitment, training, rostering and supervision.
• Sound working knowledge of occupational health and safety, and food safety obligations relevant to a retail grocery business.
• Strong customer service, communication and leadership skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and meet operational deadlines in a busy, customer facing retail environment.
