Job summary

Skyrail is seeking a numbers and details enthusiast to join our Cairns retail team. This part-time role (minimum 24 hours/week) offers flexible hours suitable for school hours and includes opportunities to contribute to sustainability and conservation legacy.

Key responsibilities include data-driven stock control, PO processing, stocktakes, and supporting merchandising. You will assist in gift shops during peak periods and benefit from flexible hours and on-site parking.

Qualifications

• Previous experience with inventory or data management systems in a retail environment.
• Strong analytical skills and a genuine eye for accurate data.
• Excellent computer skills and the ability to pick up new systems quickly.
• A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Great time management with the ability to prioritise and problem solve.
• Willingness to be hands-on and involved in stock handling.

Responsibilities

• Keep stock control system up to date through accurate data entry.
• Raise purchase orders, receive goods and reconcile orders to invoices.
• Assist with physical handling of stock and storeroom duties as required.
• Undertake interim and annual stocktakes and prepare monthly and yearly reports.
• Monitor stock movement, product life cycles and supplier performance; advise Retail Manager.
• Support merchandising standards: price tickets, bar codes and PLU descriptions.
• Assist with Retail administrative tasks as required.
• Lend a hand in Gift Shops during busy periods as a Sales Assistant.

About the role

We are seeking a numbers and details enthusiast to join our retail team. This position is a part‑time role with a minimum of 24 hours per week. The hours are flexible and would suit candidates who may want to work around school hours.

Key responsibilities

• Keeping stock control system up to date through accurate data entry
• Raising purchase orders, receiving goods and reconciling purchase orders to invoices
• Assisting with the physical handling of stock and storeroom duties as required
• Undertaking interim and annual stocktakes and preparing monthly and yearly reports
• Monitoring stock movement, product life cycles and supplier performance, and advising the Retail Manager
• Supporting merchandising standards, including accurate price tickets, bar codes and PLU descriptions
• Assisting with Retail administrative tasks as required
• Lending a hand in the Gift Shops during busy periods — trained in the duties of a Sales Assistant

About you

• A drivers licence, your own transport and willingness to travel on Skyrail
