Job summary

IKEA Queensland Market is seeking a Financial Controller to oversee financial control, budgeting and reporting for the Queensland retail unit. You will manage expenses, prepare reports and lead variance analysis to guide store management and stakeholders.

The role requires strong accounting qualifications, experience in retail finance, and a proactive, collaborative approach to improve cost efficiency and financial processes across the business unit.

Qualifications

• Qualified in accounting or able to demonstrate equivalent experience.
• Strong understanding of financial and operational processes.
• Experience in financial control, budgeting, reporting or commercial controlling, ideally in retail.

Responsibilities

• Oversee expenses, invoices and ledger allocations to cost centers and owners.
• Manage budgets across departments, conduct regular financial reviews and explain variances.
• Prepare clear financial reports, forecasts and variance analyses for store management and stakeholders.
• Review ledger accounts, identify errors and opportunities to improve cost control.
• Analyze historical spending to understand cost drivers and potential savings.
• Support risk identification and drive continuous financial process improvements.
• Collaborate with store management and finance stakeholders to strengthen controls and reporting.
