Job summary

Australia Post is seeking a friendly Retail Customer Service Officer in Sydney. This part-time role covers 25 hours per week across rotating shifts at Bondi Junction, Potts Point, Paddington, and nearby post offices.

You’ll be front-facing, handling sales and service and helping customers with parcels, mail, and payments. You’ll join a supportive team with paid training, opportunities for growth, and the chance to connect with the local community.

Qualifications

• Experience in customer service and/or cash handling.
• Ability to lift up to 16kg of mail and parcels regularly and stand for your shift.
• Upsell and promote products and services to customers.
• Promote and merchandise offerings as part of daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform customer sales and service transactions.
• Manage high value transactions accurately (cash, cheques, credit cards, EFTPOS).
• Conduct identity service transactions, including passport interviews.
• Assist with mail and parcel lodgements and associated costs.
• Build relationships by understanding customer needs and offering solutions.

About the opportunity

As our Retail Customer Service Officer, you’ll play an important part in helping Australians service their own businesses, keeping millions of people connected and building community resilience. Every year around one million customers walk into one of our Australia Post Offices. It’s our retail teams who make sure that every experience they have is a great one. And while they do, they’re supported by a welcoming team, take part in ongoing training, and are guided on career development opportunities.

• Pay Rate Commencing at $29.72/ hour, increasing to $31.77 / hour after 3 months, plus 12% Superannuation


• Training Comprehensive, paid training program with ongoing support


• Hours 25 hours / week, working Monday - Friday on a Rotating Roster between Bondi Junction, Potts Point, Paddington Post Shop, Double Bay Post Office, Bondi Beach Post Office

You’ll be

• Performing customer sales and service transactions with customers.


• Managing high value transactions accurately (handling and processing cash, cheques, credit cards and EFTPOS).


• Conducting and processing a number of identity services transactions, including Australian Passport Interviews.


• Promoting our products and services through up-selling and cross-selling, merchandising and other promotional activities.


• Assisting customers with mail and parcels lodgements and associate costs.


• Building rewarding relationships with customers by understanding their needs.


• Assisting with administrative duties such as stocktaking and record maintenance.

You’ll also need to

• Have experience in customer service and/or cash handling.
