Job summary

Australia Post is seeking a friendly Retail Customer Service Officer to help Australians post, shop, bank or pay bills while serving local businesses. You will be the face of our in‑branch service, delivering essential experiences with a supportive team.

This permanent part-time role (25 hours per week) requires rotating shifts between 8am and 6pm across Balmain, Rozelle, Annandale, Five Dock, Leichhardt and Drummoyne, with comprehensive paid training and access to Post Perks.

Qualifications

• You’re friendly, enthusiastic and reliable, with a customer-first attitude.
• Experience in customer service and/or cash handling is preferred.
• Comfortable with processing high value transactions and basic identity services.

Responsibilities

• Perform customer sales and service transactions with customers.
• Handle cash, cheques, credit cards and EFTPOS accurately.
• Conduct identity services transactions, including Australian Passport interviews.
• Promote products and services through up-selling and promotions.
• Assist customers with mail and parcel lodgements and costs.
• Build relationships by understanding customer needs and providing solutions.
• Assist with stock, administration and record maintenance.

About the opportunity

As our Retail Customer Service Officer, you'll play an important part in helping Australians service their own businesses, keeping millions of people connected and building community resilience. Every year around one million customers walk into one of our Australia Post Offices. It's our retail teams who make sure that every experience they have is a great one. And while they do, they're supported by a welcoming team, take part in ongoing training, and are guided on career development opportunities.

• Pay Rate Commencing at $29.72 / hour, increasing to $31.77/ hour after 3 months, plus 12% Superannuation
• Training - Comprehensive, paid training program with ongoing support
• Hours 25 hours / week, working Monday - Friday, Rotating between 8am and 6pm
• This is a Relief role which will require you to work between Balmain, Rozelle, Annandale, Five Dock, Leichardt and Drummoyne Post Offices

You’ll be

• Performing customer sales and service transactions with customers.
• Managing high value transactions accurately (handling and processing cash, cheques, credit cards and EFTPOS).
• Conducting and processing a number of identity services transactions, including Australian Passport Interviews.
• Promoting our products and services through up-selling and cross-selling, merchandising and other promotional activities.
• Assisting customers with mail and parcels lodgements and associate costs.
• Building rewarding relationships with customers by understanding their needs.
• Assisting with administrative duties such as stocktaking and record maintenance.

• You’re a friendly, enthusiastic and reliable personality who loves working in a team environment.
• You’re ready to put the customer at the centre of everything you do to help make a difference in the community.

You’ll also need to

• Have experience in customer service and/or cash handling.
• Be fit to lift up to 16kgs of mail and parcels regularly and stand for your shift.
