Job summary

The Salvation Army in Noosa region on the Sunshine Coast is seeking a values-driven Retail Assistant to support daily store operations, donations processing, and customer service across Family Stores and collection points.

This casual role reports to the Area Manager, involves open/close procedures, cash handling, and assisting with promotions, with flexible hours and opportunities for training and development.

Qualifications

  • Customer service experience in a retail environment.

  • Current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with processing donations and ensure stock on the shop floor at the correct price point.
  • Perform store open and close procedures as required.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to donors and customers.
  • Assist in execution and coordination of promotions and activities at the store.

About the role

We are seeking a values driven Retail Assistant who will perform customer focused retail tasks that support the daily operation of Family Stores, warehouses and the missional objectives of The Salvation Army. Reporting to the Area Manager, this is a casual role, based in the Noosa region, with work across the Sunshine Coast, QLD. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the General Retail Award Level 3.

You will successfully Provide exceptional customer service to all donors and customers and provide appropriate assistance when working in the stores, collection points or anywhere else as reasonably required. Assist with the processing of all donations and ensure adequate amount of stock is on the shop floor at the correct price point. Perform store open & close established procedures as required. Comply with secure cash handling and banking established procedures as required. Assist in the execution and coordination of all promotional activities at the store.

  • Demonstrated customer service experience working in a retail environment with an ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
  • Experience supervising workers in retail or similar setting highly regarded
  • Sound presentation and communication skills (both verbal and written) with an ability to interact with a variety of people
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time effectively
  • Current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
  • Knowledge of work health safety obligations practice of these in the workplace
  • Incumbent needs to have a reasonable level of fitness to carry out the duties of this position
