Job summary

Transport for NSW is seeking a Restricted Vehicle Access Officer in Parramatta to process permits, notices and enquiries for Class 1-3 vehicles in line with legislative and policy requirements to ensure safe, efficient network operations. Applications are expected to be fair, consistent and transparent, with a focus on public safety.

You will provide specialist advice to operations management, industry stakeholders, police, and the public regarding access requirements and mass/dimension limits,

In this role, you'll:

Process and assess permits, notices and enquires for Class 1, 2, and 3 vehicles in line with legislative and policy requirements to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable network operations – and ensure that applicants are processed in a consistent, fair, and transparent manner and comply with relevant policies and legislation.

Deliver specialist advice to operations management, industry stakeholders, police, third parties, and the public regarding mass and dimension limits and road access requirements.

Use technical expertise and sound judgment to deliver timely and consistent access decisions that support freight productivity while protecting public safety and road infrastructure, while also contributing to process improvements and digital tools such as the Automated Access Assessment Program (AAAP).

About you

You’ll bring strong communication and stakeholder engagement experience, able to translate complex technical issues for technical and non-technical stakeholders.

You’ll have demonstrated experience in assessing complex applications or permits in regulatory or operational environments, with proven capability to interpret legislation, apply technical criteria, and deliver timely, consistent decisions under pressure.

You’ll bring sound experience in delivering administrative support functions, including the timely preparation of correspondence and internal briefing papers.

You’ll have appropriate tertiary qualifications in a related discipline, or demonstrated relevant, equivalent professional experience.

Location: this role is based in Parramatta with hybrid working arrangements.
