Job summary

Shell House in Sydney's CBD is seeking an experienced Restaurant Host to join our front-of-house team. You will be the first point of contact for guests, ensuring a warm, professional guest journey and smooth operation across the restaurant and bar areas.

Qualifications

• Experience in a host/front-of-house role within a quality restaurant, bar or hospitality venue.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Warm, confident and professional approach.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
• Australian working rights.
• Experience with OpenTable or similar reservation systems is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Warmly welcoming and farewelling guests with genuine hospitality
• Managing reservations, table allocations and seating plans
• Assisting with waitlists, bookings and guest enquiries
• Coordinating guest flow across the restaurant and bar areas
• Maintaining a strong knowledge of the venue, menus and current offerings
• Communicating effectively with floor staff, managers and other departments
• Assisting the team during busy service periods
• Supporting the overall presentation and organisation of the host area
• Anticipating guest needs and helping create memorable experiences

We are looking for an experienced and friendly Restaurant Host to join our front-of-house team and be part of our “First Impressions” team!

About The Role

As a Host, you will be the first point of contact for our guests, setting the tone for their entire experience from the moment they arrive.

Working closely with the management and service teams, you will be responsible for creating a warm, professional and seamless guest journey while helping the restaurant and bar operations run smoothly.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

You Will Ideally Have

• Previous experience in a host, reservations or front-of-house role within a quality restaurant, bar or hospitality venue
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• A warm, confident and professional approach
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• The ability to remain calm and composed in a fast-paced environment
• A natural ability to connect with guests and make them feel welcome
• A strong understanding of premium service standards
• The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and public holidays
• Australian working rights
• Experience with OpenTable or similar reservation systems will be highly regarded.
