Job summary

Marist180 is seeking a Youth Worker for casual opportunities in the Newcastle area. You will support young people living in accommodation with daily activities, and mentor them to develop living, educational and social skills.

The role emphasizes safety, reporting concerns, and collaboration with the House Manager. A Diploma in Youth Work or related field, with overnight shift availability, is required along with clear safeguarding checks and current First Aid/CPR.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Youth Work, Community Services, or related field is required.
• Minimum of 1 year experience working with young people in a residential setting.
• Willingness and ability to work sleepover/overnight shifts.
• Demonstrated ability to engage clients positively while maintaining own boundaries.
• National Police Check and a Working with Children’s Check (or willingness to obtain).
• Current First Aid and CPR Certification.
• Unrestricted Drivers Licence.
• Consent to verify Residential Care Workers Register.

Responsibilities

• Support young people in care with day-to-day activities and personal living skills.
• Develop and maintain positive mentoring relationships with the youth.
• Engage in educational, vocational and social activities to build skills.
• Complete documentation, reports, timesheets and financial records.
• Contribute to a safe, productive workplace and participate in supervision and development.
