Job summary

AWCON in Australia is seeking an experienced Franna Operator to join our team in Orange, NSW. This residential-only underground mining role offers a 12-month contract with potential for long-term opportunities and requires a current Franna crane ticket and a background in safe lifting.

You will operate safely, perform pre-start checks, coordinate with dogman/riggers, and ensure compliance with underground safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience operating a Franna crane, ideally underground or in mining.
• Current Franna/Crane ticket (C6 or above).
• Strong commitment to safety and site rules.
• Able to pass medical and police checks.
• HR license preferred

With a strong pipeline of upcoming works and continued national growth, we are seeking experienced Franna Operator to join our team in Orange, NSW.

The Opportunity

This is a residential-only opportunity with potential for a 7:7 or 14:7 roster (project dependent), offering a genuine balance of dynamic underground work and scheduled time off.

Please note: this role does not offer fly-in fly-out or drive-in drive-out arrangements, and applicants must be based in or around Orange, NSW, or willing to relocate at their own expense.

What You'll Be Responsible For

• Operating a Franna crane safely in an underground mining environment
• Lifting and moving equipment, materials and supplies around site
• Working closely with dogman/riggers and the wider crew to plan safe lifts
• Doing pre-start checks on your machine and reporting any faults
• Following underground site rules, traffic management and safety procedures at all times
• Keeping your work area safe and tidy
• Letting your supervisor know about any issues on site

What You'll Bring

• Solid experience operating a Franna crane, ideally underground or in mining
• Current Franna/Crane ticket (C6 or above)
• Good understanding of lifting and rigging basics
• Comfortable working underground
• Being a good team player
• A genuine focus on doing things safely
• Ability to pass a medical check and police check
• A current driver's licence (HR preferred)

Nice to have:

• High Risk Work Licence (dogging or rigging)
• Underground mining induction or experience
• Experience operating other plant as well
