Job summary

Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service in Perth seeks a Research Manager to lead assessment, development and coordination of research projects across the organisation. You will collaborate with the Medical Director, management and external researchers to ensure ethical, compliant programs and monitoring of outcomes.

The role emphasises mentoring Aboriginal researchers, implementing policies, maintaining the research database and fostering collaboration to drive innovation within the organisation.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in health or social sciences with research component.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience managing multiple research projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to design, implement and evaluate research initiatives including ethics input.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage research activities across Derbarl under the Sub-Committee direction.
  • Develop and maintain systems to support research coordination.
  • Maintain the research project database and document filing.
  • Implement Derbarl research policy and ethics protocols.
  • Mentor Aboriginal researchers and support training and development.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards and regulatory requirements.

Clinical/Medical Research (Healthcare & Medical)
$140,000 - $150,000 per annum (pro-rata) + Super
Summary

The Research Manager will work closely with the Medical Director and staff to manage assessment, development and coordination of research projects across Derbarl. The position collaboratives with management and staff, and external researchers to facilitate the development, assessment, resource allocations, adoption, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Derbarl approved research projects. The position also supports the Research Sub-Committee of the Board.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving innovation and fostering collaboration within the organisation.

Responsibilities
  • Under the strategic direction of the research Sub-Committee of the Derbarl board, lead and manage all research activities across Derbarl.
  • Develop, implement, monitor and maintain systems and processes to support Derbarl research coordination.
  • Maintain the research project database and document filing system.
  • In consultation with the Medical Director, manage and implement Derbal research policy and protocols.
  • Mentor and support new Derbarl researchers especially the training and development of Aboriginal researchers.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards and regulatory requirements in all research activities.
Qualification & Experience
  • Tertiary degree at master’s level or above in health or social sciences with a significant research component.
  • Demonstrated strength in written and verbal communication.
  • Experience in project management and ability to maintain oversight over a board range of projects.
  • Strong researcher technical skills in either quantitative or qualitative research with a good understanding of both.
  • Extensive experience designing, implementing and evaluating research projects including input and review of ethics applications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to monitor and facilitate project implementation, including manage operational relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Pre-Employment Requirements
  • Satisfactory National Police Clearance (within 6 months)
  • Valid WA Driver’s Licence
  • Successful Pre-employment health assessment
