Job summary

Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service Aboriginal Corporation in East Perth seeks a Research Manager to oversee assessment, development and coordination of research projects across Derbarl. The position reports to the Medical Director, supports the Research Sub-Committee, and focuses on developing systems for coordination and evaluation across multiple projects at

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in health or social sciences with a significant research component.
  • Demonstrated strength in written and verbal communication.
  • Experience in project management with oversight of multiple projects.
  • Strong researcher skills in quantitative or qualitative methods.
  • Experience designing, implementing and evaluating research projects including ethics review.
  • Ability to work with diverse stakeholders to monitor and facilitate project implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all research activities under the strategic direction of the Research Sub-Committee of the Derbarl board.
  • Develop, implement, monitor and maintain systems and processes to support Derbarl research coordination.
  • Maintain the research project database and document filing system.
  • Manage and implement Derbarl research policy and protocols in consultation with the Medical Director.
  • Mentor and support new Derbarl researchers, especially Aboriginal researchers.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards and regulatory requirements in all research activities.

Summary:

The Research Managerwillwork closely with the Medical Director and staff to manage assessment,developmentand coordination of research projects acrossDerbarl.The position collaboratives with management and staff, and external researchers tofacilitatethedevelopment, assessment, resource allocations, adoption, implementation,monitoringand evaluation ofDerbarlapproved research projects.The position also supports the Research Sub-Committee of the Board.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in driving innovation and fostering collaboration within the organisation.

Responsibilities:

  • Under the strategic direction of the research Sub-Committee of theDerbarlboard, lead and manage all research activities acrossDerbarl.
  • Develop, implement,monitorand maintain systems and processes to supportDerbarlresearch coordination.
  • Maintain the research project database and document filingsystem.
  • In consultation with the Medical Director, manage and implementDerbalresearch policy andprotocols.
  • Mentor and support newDerbarlresearchers especially the training and development of Aboriginalresearchers.
  • Ensure compliance with ethical standards and regulatory requirements in all research activities.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary degree atmaster'slevel or above in health or social sciences withasignificant researchcomponent.
  • Demonstrated strength in written and verbal communication.
  • Experience in project management and ability tomaintainoversight over a board range of projects.
  • Strong researcher technical skills in either quantitative or qualitative research with a good understanding of both.
  • Extensive experience designing,implementingand evaluating research projects including input and review of ethics applications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders tomonitorand facilitate project implementation, including manage operational relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Pre-Employment Requirements

  • Satisfactory National Police Clearance (within 6 months)
  • Valid WA Driver's Licence
  • Successful Pre-employment health assessment
