Job summary

Auto & General is seeking a Renewal Pricing Analyst to support the Renewal Pricing Manager in managing renewal pricing for major products. You will work with a team to develop, implement and monitor renewal prices to meet business objectives.

You will undertake data-driven analysis, build automated data pipelines, test pricing changes and collaborate with underwriting, sales, marketing and IT to enhance pricing effectiveness.

Qualifications

• Analytical mindset and problem-solving capability.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Knowledge of statistical modelling techniques and predictive modelling approaches (e.g. GLMs, machine learning).
• Programming knowledge (e.g. SAS, R, Python, SQL, GCP).
• Degree qualified in mathematics, actuarial studies or similar.
• Progress towards Actuarial qualifications viewed favourably.

The role

The purpose of the Renewal Pricing Analyst role will be to support the Renewal Pricing Manager in managing the renewal pricing of A&G’s major products.
As a Renewal Pricing Analyst, you will work closely with a team of analysts to perform leading-edge, high-quality analysis across the business. You will take ownership of various stages of the renewal pricing process, including developing, implementing, and monitoring renewal prices to ensure that the company’s business objectives are met.
Position Accountabilities

To undertake tasks as directed by senior members of the team efficiently, thoroughly and with due care. This includes:

• Understanding sources of data, its limitations and common uses
• Managing and manipulating very large data sets
• Implementing robust automated data pipelines
• Undertake proactive monitoring and governance of our data and data processes
• Conducting technical analysis as directed
• Drawing insights and providing recommendations on the next steps
• Explaining work and communicating findings
• Perform regular and ad-hoc reporting and monitoring of key product pricing measures
• Conduct reviews of our renewal pricing algorithm, under direction of senior management
• Quantify the impact of any new technical rates on offered prices and recommend any proposed changes
• Quantify the impact of various retention scenarios to assist with decision-making
• Create and deploy new pricing rules to all servers (including production) and perform appropriate testing

Others

• Perform other reasonable and relevant activities as requested from time to time to meet operational requirements
• Test IT changes and effectively identify potential issues before go-live
• Collaborate with analytical colleagues across the company (e.g. underwriting, sales, marketing, IT) to improve business performance across the team
