Job summary

Victoria Rendering Pty. Ltd. in Melbourne seeks two qualified renderers (solid plasterers) for full-time, permanent roles across residential and commercial projects.

You will perform rendering, plastering, and finishing work on substrates, ensuring durable, straight surfaces and high-quality finishes on diverse sites. Applicants should have a Certificate III in Solid Plastering and at least two years of relevant experience, with strong attention to detail, safety, and the ability to work

• At least two years of Renderer/Solid Plasterer experience.
• Experience in cement rendering, plastering and surface finishing.
• Knowledge of substrate prep, mixing, application and finishing.
• Experience repairing defects and reading building plans.
• Safe use of rendering tools and hand/power tools.
• Attention to detail and high-quality finishes.
• Good communication, organisation and time management.
• Ability to work independently or in a team, WHS aware.
• Australian rendering/construction experience highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Review plans/specs to identify rendering system, finish, and levels.
• Inspect substrates and assess preparation and coating needs.
• Set out work areas to establish lines, levels and dimensions.
• Prepare internal and external surfaces and patch as needed.
• Select rendering materials and reinforcement for substrate and finish.
• Mix rendering and plastering materials to required consistency.
• Apply base, levelling and finishing coats to walls and panels.
• Use trowels, floats and screeds to achieve even coverage.
• Plumb and straighten rendered surfaces and profiles.
• Coordinate with supervisors and other trades to meet timelines.
• Maintain tools and ensure safe operation on site.

About the role

The successful applicants will perform rendering, solid plastering, remedial surface repair and finishing work at project sites across metropolitan Melbourne. The positions require practical experience preparing substrates, applying rendering systems and producing durable, straight and consistently finished surfaces.

Key duties and responsibilities

• Review building plans, project specifications and site instructions to identify the required rendering system, finish, dimensions and levels.
• Inspect concrete, masonry and other substrates to determine the preparation, repair and coating work required before rendering begins.
• Measure and set out work areas to establish accurate lines, levels, corners and finished dimensions.
• Prepare internal and external surfaces by cleaning, grinding, patching and removing loose, damaged or uneven material.
• Select appropriate cement render, plaster, bonding agents, grout, reinforcement and coating products for the substrate and specified finish.
• Measure and mix rendering and solid-plastering materials to achieve the required consistency, adhesion and workability.
• Apply base coats, levelling coats and finishing coats to walls, facades, concrete panels and other structural surfaces.
• Use trowels, floats, screeds and levelling tools to produce even coverage and the specified finished thickness.
• Plumb and straighten rendered walls, corners, angles, edges and junctions to create accurate and clean profiles.
• Position corner beads, reinforcing mesh and related components where required before applying the relevant rendering system.
• Repair cracks, holes, blowouts, damaged edges and other imperfections in concrete and previously rendered surfaces.
• Undertake remedial rendering and recoating of defective concrete, masonry and precast panels.
• Create smooth, textured or decorative finishes in accordance with project and manufacturer specifications.
• Apply protective, weather-resistant, insulating, acoustic or fire-resistant coating systems where required by the project.
• Rub, sand and refine completed surfaces to achieve the required appearance and prepare them for subsequent finishes.
• Inspect completed work for correct alignment, thickness, texture and finish, and rectify defects before handover.
• Operate and maintain rendering tools, mixing equipment and other trade equipment safely and effectively.
• Coordinate with supervisors, builders and other trades to complete rendering activities safely and within project timeframes.
• Comply with workplace health and safety procedures, product instructions and applicable construction-site requirements.

Qualifications and experience

• Certificate III in Solid Plastering or an equivalent relevant trade qualification.
• At least two years of relevant work experience as a Renderer or Solid Plasterer.
• Demonstrated experience in cement rendering, solid plastering and concrete surface finishing.
• Practical knowledge of substrate preparation, material mixing, application, levelling, straightening and finishing techniques.
• Experience repairing defective render, damaged concrete and surface irregularities.
• Ability to read and understand building plans, measurements and job specifications.
• Competence in the safe use of rendering and solid-plastering hand tools, power tools and equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality finishes.
• Good communication, organisation and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a construction team.
• Sound understanding of construction-site health and safety requirements.
• Australian rendering or construction experience will be highly regarded.
