Job summary

Law of the Jungle is seeking an AI-native software developer to join a product-focused team in Sydney. The role emphasizes building production-grade software that leverages large language models beyond basic prompts, with a focus on reliability and real-world AI behavior.

You will work on backend Java (Spring Boot) microservices, data pipelines using MySQL, and optionally frontend Angular. Remote work within Australia is possible and equity is offered after a successful trial period.

Qualifications

• Has 3+ years building production software (ideally SaaS).
• Has experience working with cloud infrastructure (AWS or similar).
• Has built with LLMs beyond prompting — e.g. RAG, structured outputs, eval loops, or similar patterns.

We’re looking for an AI-native software developer.

Not someone who has simply used LLMs, but someone who thinks with them.

You are the kind of developer who experiments constantly, builds quickly, tests ideas in code rather than slides, and understands how modern AI systems actually behave in the real world. You work fast, but not carelessly. You care deeply about building reliable products, rather than just clever demos.

• This is a full time role but we will consider alternatives such as contract or part time (on a minimum expectation of, say, 20 hours per week)
• Being based in Sydney, our preference is for a Sydney-based candidate but realistically we will consider (in order of preference):
  • someone based elsewhere in Australia
  • someone based in a similar time zone
  • someone outstanding outside that range
• For those based locally, there is freedom to work from home (save for occasional or important meetings and get togethers)
• Equity in the business post trial period
