Job summary

Mercor is seeking a Video Editing Professional for a remote contract role. You will contribute original footage or licensed material, and craft end-to-end edits using your preferred editing suite. You will define grading criteria and document the reasoning behind them to guide evaluation.

You will work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines and help improve AI model performance while delivering precise, frame-accurate results across various formats.

Qualifications

• 5+ years editing professionally in film and TV, commercials, broadcast news, or creator and social production.
• Fluent in at least one professional editor (Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, Avid Media Composer), including basic color and audio cleanup.
• Comfortable with delivery specs: resolution, frame rate, codecs, audio channel layouts, and frame-accurate cuts.

Responsibilities

• Contribute original footage you shot and fully own or source openly licensed footage. Author realistic editing briefs from it.
• Build each task end to end in your own editing software. Cut, introduce defects or distractors, and produce the reference edit a correct result is judged against.
• Write grading criteria with concrete, checkable standards and the editorial reasoning behind them.
• Blind-solve tasks built by other editors and write up a step-by-step solution.
• Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines while improving AI model performance.
