Job summary

Candor Recruitment is seeking a REMOTE Senior Accountant / AM to join a growing Sydney-based client’s CFO advisory practice. You will lead the offshore accounting team, deliver CFO advisory engagements, manage budgeting, reporting, and tax compliance while maintaining strong client relationships.

The role is fully remote with occasional travel to Sydney and offers genuine ownership, equity potential based on KPIs, and exposure across clubs, hospitality, manufacturing, labour hire, tech and more.

Qualifications

• CA or CPA qualification, or nearing completion.
• 5+ years' experience in public practice or client-facing advisory.
• Experience mentoring or working with offshore teams with strong review skills.
• Able to prepare returns for individuals, companies, trusts and not-for-profits.
• Confident communicator capable of client conversations.

Responsibilities

• Support CFO advisory engagements: management reporting, budgeting, cash flow.
• Prepare board/management packs and join client meetings.
• Mentor offshore accounting team; allocate work and review output.
• Link between offshore team and Australian clients on daily tasks.
• Own delivery for a portfolio including bookkeeping, payroll and compliance.
• Review junior/offshore work before client delivery.
• Prepare/review income tax returns and lodgements for entities.
• Support tax planning and advisory work.

REMOTE Senior Accountant / AM - CFO Advisory

About our client
Our client is a growing accounting and advisory firm based in Sydney. They work with clubs, hospitality, manufacturing, labour hire, tech and a range of other industries, across accounting, tax, payroll and governance.

This is a firm where progression is tied to capability, not tenure, with a genuine view to profit share and equity as you take on more.

The opportunity
Fully remote opportunity with the occasional travel to meet with clients in Sydney. This is a broad, client-facing Senior Accountant role, not a narrow compliance seat. Reporting directly to the Director, you'll support CFO advisory engagements, lead the offshore accounting team, own client deliverables, and look after tax compliance and advisory work.

What you'll be doing

• Assisting the Director on CFO advisory engagements: management reporting, budgeting, cash flow and business performance analysis
• Preparing board and management reporting packs, and joining client meetings
• Managing and mentoring the offshore accounting team: allocating work, reviewing output, and keeping quality and turnaround on track
• Acting as the day-to-day link between the offshore team and Australian clients
• Owning delivery for a portfolio of clients, including bookkeeping, payroll and compliance work
• Reviewing work from junior and offshore staff before it goes to clients or the Director
• Preparing and reviewing income tax returns, activity statements and other lodgements for individuals, companies and trusts
• Supporting tax planning and advisory work

Experience

• CA or CPA qualified (or in the final stages)
• 5+ years' experience in public practice or a client‑facing accounting/advisory role
• Comfortable preparing and reviewing returns for individuals, companies, trusts and not-for-profits/clubs
• Experience managing or working closely with an offshore team, with strong review and delegation skills
• A confident communicator who can run client conversations independently
• Hands‑on with Xero, MYOB and Employment Hero
• Exposure to clubs, hospitality, manufacturing, labour hire or tech is a plus
