Job summary

Alignerr is seeking a Semiconductor Materials Science Expert to train AI systems in materials science contexts. Masters or PhD required, deep expertise in semiconductor materials or molecular modelling, and proficiency in Python or MATLAB.

Work is fully remote on an hourly contract (10-40 hours/week). You will develop, solve, and review advanced problems that help AI reason like a scientist, collaborating asynchronously with AI researchers.

Qualifications

• Masters or PhD in Material Science or closely related field.
• Deep expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modelling, or adjacent disciplines.
• Proficient in Python or MATLAB, research experience a plus.
• Exceptional written communicator with precision and clarity.
• Detail-oriented, self-directed, and capable of async work.
• Fluent in English.

Responsibilities

• Develop, solve, and critically review advanced material science problems with real-world relevance.
• Apply expertise in semiconductor materials or molecular modelling to craft complex problem statements.
• Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and domain experts to sharpen AI model reasoning.
• Ensure scientific accuracy, depth, and clarity across all deliverables.
• Help set the standard for AI understanding of materials science at a graduate level.
