Job summary

Mercor seeks an experienced LLM Research Scientist specializing in pre-training, computer vision, and adversarial robustness. You will train classifiers and generative models end-to-end, optimize data and compute usage, and push robustness across vision and language tasks.

The role emphasizes practical deployment under tight constraints, collaboration with top researchers, and a fully remote, project-based work style with competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of machine learning research experience (PhD counts).
• Strong experience with PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow, or similar ML frameworks.
• Experience with training and evaluating deep learning models end-to-end across vision and language.

Responsibilities

• Train image classifiers and generative image models from scratch and fine-tune open-weight language models.
• Improve models with limited data, compute, and model-size budgets.
• Make models robust to adversarial inputs and conversations; compress models to meet size/latency constraints.
• Diagnose and resolve training issues and bring research findings to practical deployments.
