Job summary

Mercor is seeking experienced English Linguistic Experts to join a cutting-edge AI research project in partnership with a leading research lab. You will evaluate LLM English outputs, edit and annotate text, and provide detailed linguistic feedback to guide model training and improvements.

Work is fully remote with flexible, asynchronous hours. Ideal candidates are native or near-native English editors with NLP data experience and a keen eye for detail.

Qualifications

• Fluent English with strong grammar, syntax and style.
• Experience in editing, proofreading and linguistic annotation.
• Background in NLP data work or language evaluation.
• Attention to linguistic nuances and regional variations.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate LLM English outputs across various use cases (summarization, dialogue, grammar correction, rewriting, reasoning).
• Edit, refine or rewrite English content to meet high linguistic and stylistic standards.
• Annotate English text for grammatical, syntactic, semantic and stylistic features.
• Identify model errors, inconsistencies and language gaps; provide feedback to improve LLM performance.
• Provide detailed linguistic feedback to guide ongoing model training efforts.
