Job summary

Queensland All-Trades in Cairns is seeking an experienced Building Estimator/Supervisor to manage insurance repair projects from a home-based office. You will inspect properties, prepare detailed scopes and estimates, and coordinate trades to ensure timely completion.

Ideal candidates have residential insurance repair experience, a carpentry background, and QBCC Site Supervisor licence or ability to obtain one.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a Building Estimator/Supervisor role – essential.
• Experience in residential insurance repairs, building repairs or renovations.
• Carpentry trade qualification or relevant construction industry experience.
• QBCC Site Supervisor licence or ability to hold the licence.
• Strong understanding of NCC, QBCC requirements and trade compliance.
• Experience conducting property inspections and preparing scopes and estimates.
• Ability to manage multiple repair projects and prioritize work.
• Excellent time management and organisational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication with homeowners, insurers and trades.
• Ability to work independently from home while staying connected with the team.
• Attention to detail and a practical, solutions-focused approach.
• Positive, reliable and professional attitude.
• Current driver’s licence with good driving history.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Willingness to complete a police history check.

Responsibilities

• Conduct property inspections in Cairns and surrounding areas.
• Prepare detailed causation reports, scopes of work and repair estimates.
• Estimate residential insurance building repairs and renovations.
• Coordinate and supervise repairs from approval through to completion.
• Manage trades and ensure works are safe, efficient and meet quality standards.
• Liaise with homeowners, insurers, loss adjusters and other stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate job records and updates.
• Ensure compliance with building legislation, standards and company requirements.
• Manage workload independently while coordinating with operations.
• Travel within the region as required.
