Job summary

Stantec in Sydney is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our busy Sydney Mechanical team. The role focuses on HVAC design for building projects across healthcare, commercial, data centre, retail, defence, industrial, and education sectors.

You will manage workloads, attend client meetings, and ensure designs meet Australian standards. Applicants should have a Mechanical Engineering degree and 3–5 years of HVAC design experience, with proficiency in Revit or AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent.
• 3–5 years HVAC design engineering experience in consulting for building services.
• Knowledge of Building Code of Australia and Australian Standards.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD or similar software.
• Ability to build and maintain client relationships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
• Positive, proactive attitude and strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Support HVAC design, planning, and delivery on healthcare, commercial, data centre, retail, defence, industrial, and educational buildings.
• Perform heat load calculations and equipment sizing, reticulation and coordination.
• Assist Project Technical Leaders to deliver projects on time and to standard.
• Conduct site inspections, monitor installations, and test/commission mechanical systems.
• Assist in HVAC design projects in line with codes and standards.
• Contribute to tender submissions and project reporting.
• Participate in in-house design meetings to add value.
