Job summary

Jobgether is seeking an AI Tooling Engineer based in Australia to design, build, and scale an internal agentic platform. You will own the full lifecycle from user needs to deployment, monitoring, and improvement, leveraging Python, LangGraph, LLM APIs, and MCP to create production-ready AI agents and integrations.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience building and shipping production software, primarily using Python.
• Proven experience building and deploying at least one production AI agent with LangGraph used by real users.
• Practical expertise in agent development: tool calling, retrieval/embeddings, prompt engineering, context design.
• Hands-on experience with LLM APIs from major providers, including token management and cost optimization.
• Experience with MCP or comparable tool protocols, server and client roles.
• Strong understanding of AI evaluation methodologies, datasets, regression testing, and monitoring.
• Familiarity with tracing/observability tools (Langfuse or equivalents).
• Experience integrating APIs and data sources (SaaS, SQL, data warehouses).
• Cloud infrastructure experience (GCP/AWS), containers, managed databases, IAM, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Daily use of AI coding agents with emphasis on quality and validation.
• Strong knowledge of security principles, identity management, permissions, and least-privilege access.
• Version control and collaborative tools (GitHub/Bitbucket).
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy new platform capabilities in collaboration with the Principal Engineer.
• Integrate internal systems and SaaS apps via APIs and data models with proper access controls.
• Build AI agents and MCP servers enabling organization-wide interactions with internal systems.
• Design retrieval workflows, embeddings, prompts, and context management for accurate AI responses.
• Establish AI quality standards through datasets, benchmarks, and regression testing; maintain observability.
• Monitor cost per answer and token usage, optimizing models, prompts, and workflows.
• Troubleshoot production issues and incorporate user feedback for continuous improvement.
• Turn proofs of concept into secure, scalable cloud apps with robust deployment processes.
• Use AI coding agents as a core part of development while maintaining code quality.
• Contribute to internal AI tooling standards, track usage and costs, define best practices.
