Job summary

St Gertrude's Catholic Primary School Smithfield, part of Sydney Catholic Schools, seeks a Religious Education Coordinator to lead RE across K–6 and shape the Catholic life of the school. You will work with parish partners to strengthen Catholic identity and coordinate liturgical planning and curriculum development.

The role is a full-time, temporary appointment within the school’s senior leadership team, with a commitment to high-quality teaching, collaboration across stages, and ongoing

Qualifications

• Graduate Diploma or Master of Religious Education or Theology (approved institution).
• Evidence of leadership descriptors per Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
• Ability to demonstrate capacity for liturgy planning and Catholic identity leadership.

Responsibilities

About the Role

As part of the school's senior leadership team, you will help shape the Catholic life, vision and strategic direction of the school. The Religious Education Coordinator leads the teaching and learning of Religious Education and the wider religious dimension of the school, an important step in Catholic leadership.

The successful candidate for this position will be a highly effective leader who:

• is a committed Catholic who understands the evangelising mission of Catholic schools and working closely with the priests and the parish community
• is a leader of Catholic identity and mission at a school and/or system level, adaptable in working with a 'shared leadership' model
• demonstrates the ability to lead the preparation of liturgies and celebrations, and Religious Education in all aspects of curriculum development, implementation and differentiation
• is a strong, contemporary leader of learning, with the capacity to lead change and demonstrate contemporary pedagogy that focuses on improving student learning
• demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders and build relationships, work collaboratively across all stages, and analyse and use data to inform learning and engage in future planning
• is a Baptised Catholic with demonstrated evidence of ongoing commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church and engagement in the life of a Catholic faith community such as a parish or an established community within the Catholic Church, as an expression of your relationship with Jesus Christ.

You will have attained or working towards:

• completed, or has evidence of study toward, a Graduate Diploma or Master of Religious Education, Theology or Theological Studies from an approved institution
• requirements of (Category E) as per Accreditation Policy to Work, Teach, and Lead or agree to meet these requirements in your first contract term
• the ability to demonstrate the standard descriptors at lead teacher level, in accordance with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
• post graduate units of study in leadership (advantageous).

All Religious Education Coordinator roles are a promotional appointment of up to 3 years + a full-time, permanent teaching position.
