Job summary

St Joseph's Primary Schofields in Schofields NSW is seeking a Religious Education Coordinator for a permanent, full-time role commencing Term 1, 2027. You will lead Catholic education delivery, collaborate with school and parish partners, and enhance liturgical life while upholding safeguarding standards.

The role requires four years in education, RE accreditation (Category D and E), and a Masters in RE/Theology or related leadership qualification, with a strong commitment to faith in practice.

Qualifications

  • A strong commitment to the Catholic faith in practice and lifestyle, witness and modelling.
  • Substantial currency in Religious Education pedagogy and knowledge of the Religious Education curriculum.
  • Accreditation to teach RE and the completion of a Masters of Religious Education/Theology or a Masters of Educational Leadership if applicable.
  • Four years of professional qualification in education.
  • Ability to lead and collaborate within a school community and engage stakeholders.

St Johsephs Primary School, Schofields is seeking a passionate and committed Religious Education Coordinator to join the team on a permanent full-time basis commencing in Term 1, 2027.

About the opportunity

The Religious Education Coordinator is responsible to the Principal and shares in the leadership of the school community and the achievement of the school's missions and student learning outcomes. In addition, you will:

Ensure that the school delivers high quality contemporary learning and teaching for the community it serves, embedded in the Catholic world view

Lead a collaborative ministry of witness and service and part of the evangelising mission of the Church

Display and share deep knowledge of the Religious Education curriculum and enhance the liturgical, sacramental and spiritual life of the school

Build the necessary relationships with the Parish Priest, parents, learning community, Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese, and other partners in sharing the work of Catholic education

Create and maintain a safe, inclusive and challenging learning environment

About you (selection criteria)

A strong commitment to the Catholic faith in practice and lifestyle, witness and modelling

A minimum of four years’ professional qualification in education

Accreditation to teach RE and the completion of a Masters of Religious Education/Theology or a Masters of Educational Leadership (if there are at least four units at Masters Level in Religious Education/Theology and/or Scripture)

Substantial currency in Religious Education pedagogy and knowledge of the Religious Education curriculum

An understanding of contemporary learning theory and practice, and an ability to ensure this is evident in the teaching within the school

Capacity to challenge and lead a school community that gives witness to the Catholic faith and ensure its teaching is aligned with the system strategic intent

Demonstrated ability to build and sustain positive peer relationships and engage actively within the school community

Commitment to modelling school values and integrity

A demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning and formation

Qualifications and accreditations

Meet the requirements of Category E of the Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead Policy or agree to meet these requirements in your first contract term. This includes four units of postgraduate study in RE/Theology and/or Catholic Leadership in addition to those undertaken for Category D.

Be accredited to teach Religious Education (Category D).

During the recruitment process, you will need to provide:

Certified copy of a Certificate of Accreditation for Category D and E

Copy of Baptism Certificate

Compliance with NSW Child Protection Legislation - Working with Children Check clearance

Eligibility according to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA)
