Job summary

Autism Queensland Cairns School seeks relief teachers to enrich primary classes (P-6) with small class sizes of 6-8 students. You will be supported by an interdisciplinary team including teacher aides, therapists, wellbeing and behaviour support practitioners.

The role emphasizes a holistic, neuro-affirming approach to empower autistic students to grow and thrive in an environment that values individual potential.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in Education, Special Education, or Inclusive Education.
• Current registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT).
• Demonstrated experience with school aged autistic children.
• Provide First Aid including CPR qualification (or willingness to obtain).
• Understanding of current principles for supporting students with diverse learning needs across environments.

Responsibilities

• As a Teacher, you'll support the planning, teaching and assessment in an alternative, flexible model of learning for autistic students, embracing a holistic, strengths-based approach to empower each student.
• Work within an interdisciplinary team to deliver quality education and support for autistic students.

• Enriching relief teaching positions are available in primary school aged classes (P-6) at Autism Queensland Cairns School
• Small classes of 6-8 students
• Wide degree of support from an interdisciplinary team of teacher aides' therapists, wellbeing, and behaviour support practitioners (dependent on needs of the students).

As a Teacher, you'll support the planning, teaching and assessment in an alternative, flexible model of learning for autistic students, embracing a holistic, strengths-based, and neuro-affirming approach as we strive to empower each student to thrive in an environment that fosters their individual growth.

The role would suit a flexible, curious, and caring Teacher who is seeking to enrich their career in education while supporting a diverse group of students in their education journey with Autism Queensland.
